The Chris Bowden Quartet presents 'Cannonball & Trane', a musical tribute to two influential saxophonists who shaped modern jazz. Featuring altoist and composer Chris Bowden alongside pianist Paul Deats, bassist Martyn Spencer and drummer Jim Bashford, the evening explores the contrasting styles of Cannonball Adderley and John Coltrane, both key members of Miles Davis's sextet.
The programme draws from classic Blue Note recordings including 'Somethin' Else' and 'Blue Train', showcasing Adderley's soulful blues-inflected approach alongside Coltrane's modal explorations. Bowden brings extensive experience from collaborations with The Heritage Orchestra, The Herbaliser and 4 Hero, alongside his own releases on Soul Jazz Records and Ninja Tune.
