The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Andrew Manze, presents a curated programme of British orchestral music featuring violin soloist Braimah Kanneh-Mason. The evening spans from Holst's energetic A Fugal Overture through pastoral works by Butterworth and Vaughan Williams, including The Lark Ascending, to Walton's dramatic Spitfire Prelude and Fugue and Elgar's Enigma Variations. Each work reflects different aspects of British musical heritage, from rural landscapes to wartime narratives and intimate character studies. A free pre-concert talk by Dr Joanne Cormac begins at 6:20pm in the auditorium.
