The Ruin is a performance work by British artist Simeon Barclay, commissioned and presented by The Roberts Institute of Art. The piece combines spoken word with live percussion by James Larter and horn by Isaac Shieh, examining themes of British identity, masculinity and class through the lens of Barclay's personal background.
Drawing from his upbringing in Huddersfield as the son of West Indian parents, the artist creates a nuanced exploration of cultural identity and social experience.
