The Hallé orchestra, conducted by Kahchun Wong, presents an evening of celebrated classical works featuring pianist Sir Stephen Hough. The programme opens with Liszt's Les Préludes, a romantic symphonic poem that establishes the season's artistic direction. Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, 'Emperor', follows, showcasing Hough's masterful interpretation of this groundbreaking work. The concert concludes with Stravinsky's 1945 Firebird Suite, a distilled version of the composer's revolutionary ballet score that established his international reputation.
A pre-concert talk featuring Kahchun Wong and Sir Stephen Hough takes place at 6:20pm in the auditorium. Tickets range from £13 to £44.50, with subscriber and multibuy booking available from May.
