Pianist Ignas Maknickas presents an afternoon of classical works spanning from the Baroque period to the early 19th century. The programme features Bach's Chaconne in D minor, reimagined by Busoni, alongside preludes by Lithuanian composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis and miniatures by Alvidas Remesa that draw on Christian themes. The recital concludes with Beethoven's Sonata No. 31 in A-flat major, one of the composer's final three sonatas, notable for its concluding fugue.
Part of the Sunday Piano Series, this informal performance includes an introduction from the stage and an opportunity to meet the pianist in the bar afterwards. The event takes place at the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall.
