The Galicia Symphony Orchestra from A Coruña returns to the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall with an evening of Spanish and French classics. Conducted by Roberto González-Monjas, the ensemble features guitarist Thibaut Garcia performing Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez, a centrepiece work in a carefully curated programme.
The concert opens with Falla's Three Dances from The Three-Cornered Hat, followed by Ravel's impressionistic Ma mère l'oye and Turina's evocative Sinfonía sevillana, which depicts scenes of Andalusia through its three movements. The programme concludes with Ravel's Boléro, the orchestral classic that evolved from a ballet commission into one of the most performed concert works.
A free pre-concert talk by Dr Sophie Redfern begins at 6:20pm, introducing the programme to audiences. Tickets from £12.50.
