The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Domingo Hindoyan, presents an evening of Russian masterworks featuring acclaimed pianist Alim Beisembayev. The programme opens with Rimsky-Korsakov's Russian Easter Festival Overture, known for its sweeping melodies and rich orchestration. Beisembayev takes centre stage in Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2, a work of considerable technical demands that captures the energy and dynamism of the early twentieth century. The concert concludes with Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, a work exploring themes of fate through memorable melodies and a powerful finale.
A free pre-concert talk begins at 18:20 in the auditorium, with Dr Joanne Cormac from the University of Nottingham introducing the programme. Tickets from £12.50.
