After Hours: The Blue Hour

The Blue Hour presents an evening of cabaret rooted in Weimar Berlin's underground nightclub scene. Featuring works by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht alongside era classics such as 'Surabaya Johnny' and 'Falling in Love Again', the performance explores the political and artistic ferment of 1930s Germany through a contemporary lens.
Arrangements by composer Tim Sutton frame these pieces within the context of Berlin's creative golden age, a period when artists used satire and provocation to respond to the turbulent political climate. The ensemble comprises vocalist Sarah Gabriel, pianist Tim Sutton, percussionist Beth Higham-Edwards, and saxophonist and trumpeter Sarah Field.
This After:Hours event follows an earlier London Philharmonic Orchestra concert. Ticket holders for that performance receive complimentary admission to The Blue Hour. Note that the start time may vary depending on the finishing time of the earlier concert.
