Christine Bovill returns with a revised version of her acclaimed show Piaf, a self-penned work that interweaves the story of Edith Piaf with Bovill's own journey discovering French song. Rather than a tribute act, the performance chronicles how a young Glasgow schoolgirl's reluctant French studies transformed upon hearing 'that song', leading her to become a recognised interpreter of French chanson across Europe and the Far East.
An award-winning songwriter whose work has featured in film and television, Bovill has performed on BBC Radio 4's Soul Music and shared the stage with Charles Dumont, composer of 'Non, Je ne Regrette Rien'. The production explores themes of Parisian passion and melancholy through Piaf's timeless repertoire.
