Au Pairs return for their first concert in over 40 years, bringing their distinctive post-punk sound to Nottingham. Formed in Birmingham in 1978, the band gained recognition for combining politically engaged lyrics with accessible funk-rock instrumentation, addressing gender equality and social commentary through their work. Their debut album 'Playing With A Different Sex' remains a noted example of post-punk songwriting.
Led by frontperson Lesley Woods, Au Pairs maintain their original vision of equal partnership across the band's lineup. The 2026 reunion tour features both founding and new members, performing material that continues to resonate with contemporary audiences.
This Nottingham show is supported by Gina Birch and the Unreasonables. Birch, a founding member of influential post-punk group The Raincoats, brings experience from her solo work and collaborative projects in experimental music.
