Talk Literature Education
GemmaLees_5x5 (1)-133117.png

About this event

Join Romany Gypsy artist and BTS Lead Writer, Gemma Lees for ‘GRTSB, Who Are We?’ Who are GTRSB people? What are the cultures, histories and languages used? What are traditional GTRSB arts and crafts? What does the law say? What persecution, racism and disadvantages do GTRSB people face? What unconscious biases exist against GTRSB people and why? How do we make the arts accessible and welcoming to GTRSB people? Why are traditionally nomadic people more likely to be neurodiverse? Plus a Romani language quiz and a short writing activity.

Gemma Lees is a Romany Gypsy, disabled and autistic performance artist, poet, facilitator, comedian and journalist from Bury. Her practise focuses on protest, advocacy and inclusion. She regularly facilitates both adult and family-friendly creative writing and arts and crafts workshops in a variety of venues and she is a passionate advocate for GTRSB and neurodiverse education and inclusion. Her poetry chapbook, ‘1000 Years’ is available from Written Off Publishing.
