Varna International Ballet - Swan Lake and The Nutcracker

Varna International Ballet, established in 1947, presents two celebrated works at Nottingham's Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall. Led by Artistic Director Daniela Dimova and Music Director Azat Maxutov, the company performs with its own orchestra.

Swan Lake runs Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 January at 7:30pm. Set to Tchaikovsky's iconic score, this romantic ballet follows the tragic tale of Prince Siegfried and the swan queen Odette, contrasted with the seductive Odile. The production showcases elaborate Palace scenes and moonlit lakeside choreography, featuring the demanding dual role that defines classical ballet technique.

The Nutcracker performs Wednesday 14 January at 2pm and 7:30pm. This family-friendly fantasy unfolds on Christmas Eve, transporting audiences from a festive drawing room to an enchanted realm where toys animate, armies clash, and magical transformations occur.
