Sinfonia Viva presents an evening of orchestral and choral works conducted by Jonathan Bloxham, featuring three members of the renowned Kanneh-Mason family performing together for the first time at this venue. Braimah Kanneh-Mason (violin), Sheku Kanneh-Mason (cello), and Isata Kanneh-Mason (piano) join forces in Beethoven's Triple Concerto, an inventive work combining elements of the piano trio and concerto form.
The programme spans Germanic and British composition, opening with Mozart's Magic Flute Overture and continuing with Emilie Mayer's dramatic Overture in D Minor. The Nottingham Harmonic Choir contributes two contrasting choral works: Brahms's Schicksalslied, inspired by classical mythology, and Vaughan Williams' Toward the Unknown Region, reflecting the composer's engagement with Walt Whitman's visionary poetry.
A free pre-concert talk featuring the Kanneh-Mason siblings takes place at 6.20pm.
