Northern Ballet presents Gentleman Jack, bringing the remarkable life of Anne Lister to the stage. This production explores the story of a 19th-century Yorkshire woman whose secret diaries revealed a life lived on her own terms—dressing, loving and living as she chose, rather than conforming to societal expectations.
Choreographed by award-winning choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and accompanied by live music composed by Peter Salem, the ballet captures Anne's adventures, heartbreaks and triumphs with honesty and boldness. The production features striking choreography and costumes that present a modern portrait of a woman ahead of her time. This co-production with Finnish National Opera and Ballet transforms Anne's story from page to stage.
