Live at Lunch launches its 2026 season with a trombone recital featuring Emily Nicolas, a student at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, accompanied by pianist Matthew Lam. This performance marks the first trombone recital in the Live at Lunch series since 2010.
The programme spans classical and popular works, opening with solo trombone pieces including a shakuhachi-inspired composition. The duo progress through Brahms's Four Serious Songs, Nino Rota's love theme from The Godfather, and Stjepan Šulek's technically demanding Sonata. The recital includes Jan Sandström's A Christian Song and Emily's own transcription of Dvořák's Song to the Moon from Rusalka, concluding with Arthur Pryor's lighter Thoughts of Love.
Tickets are £5 in advance or £6 on the door.
