Stuart Ironside is a British guitarist who blends classical technique with influences drawn from English folk, Estonian traditions, West African Mande music and the sounds of nature. Performing at The Grove on Thursday 18 June 2026, he will present original compositions and carefully crafted arrangements that reflect his diverse musical studies.
A graduate of Cardiff University and SOAS University of London, Ironside has developed a distinctive playing style through exploring connections across multiple musical traditions. His recent work, inspired by life in Estonia, emphasises interaction with the natural world and meditative performance practices. He will be joined by special guest support from the Nottingham folk scene for this evening of music.
Ironside's second album, 'Music from Somewhere Else', was recorded live in Northern Estonian forests as a dialogue between musician and natural environment. Part 1, 'The Enclosure', was released in December 2025, with Part 2, 'The Wildlands', following in April 2026.
