Newcastle-based singer-songwriter Nev Clay performs at The Grove in Sneinton Market on Friday 23 January 2026. Over more than twenty-five years, Clay has developed a distinctive presence within Newcastle's music scene, releasing two albums at the turn of the millennium before focusing on live performances across the city's venues. His return to recording resulted in the 2024 album 'So Little Happened For So Long', his first full-length release in over two decades.

Clay's songwriting draws comparison to lyricists such as John Cooper Clarke and Jarvis Cocker, combining detailed observations with a lo-fi aesthetic. Richard Dawson contributes backing vocals to the recent album, reflecting a long-standing musical connection between the two artists. This rare opportunity to see Nev Clay perform outside of Newcastle features support from Catmilk and Peter Hall.
