Man the Lifeboats emerged from the shanty-punk folk scene in 2016, when Skinny Lister and Holy Moly & the Crackers ignited a memorable evening at the Garage. Over eight years and more than 100 performances, the band has established themselves on the festival circuit, appearing at venues including Moseley, Purbeck, Warwick, and Deepdale. Their energetic folk-influenced sound draws comparisons to established acts such as Bellowhead, Waterboys, and the Levellers.
The band's second album, Soul of Albion, reached number 27 in the Official Folk Charts in 2022. Recorded at Rockfield Studios, the record demonstrates their distinctive blend of traditional and contemporary folk music. The project has received recognition from music publications including Outline Magazine, Crack Magazine, and Songwriting Magazine.
