The Bread And Bitter

Built on the site of the old Judge's bakery on Mapperley Top in 2007, the conversion retains the old bakery ovens in a wall in a back room. There is plenty of memorabilia adorning the walls from closed breweries, especially local ones and framed awards. Supervised children are allowed until 9pm. The single bar in the entrance room boasts 12 handpumps with Castle Rock beers and guest ales with 4 rotating craft keg lines. There is also an extensive foreign and craft bottled beer list. Home cooked food varies frequently so look for the specials board. The chef's speciality is Caribbean Chicken from a secret family recipe. A curry/quiz night is held Mondays. Dogs welcome in main bar area only. Vinyl records night and live bands once a month.
