The former Pleasley colliery will provide the backdrop for the first-ever culinary festival on the site. Pleasley Pit Trust is hosting a Food and Beer Festival, offering everything from locally-produced ales and coffees to authentic pizzas and sweet treats.
There will also be plenty of entertainment, with water fights for both adults and children, live music, a sand pit from Mansfield Sand and a ‘Pit’s Got Talent’ competition where people can showcase their singing, music, dancing or magic tricks – and even their dogs’ skills – complete with a panel of judges.
There will be live music from the Radford and Weeks band; drinks from Pleasley’s Nags Head pub; cookie dough from artisanal creators Cookie Club; doughnuts, cookies, muffins and coffee from Nottingham-based Beanz Around the World; authentic Neapolitan pizzas from Crusty Crew and drinks from The Sip and Stumble mobile bar, in addition to the pit café being open.
Stalls include Denise Taylor’s Homemade Gifts and Wendy Soo’s Cute Little Bags, with more traders to be announced. The food and beer festival is the latest in a string of exciting events organised by the trust.
