The Jazz Heritage Sextet presents an evening celebrating the legacy of Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. Formed in 2012, the group performs compositions and transcriptions by jazz luminaries including Benny Golson, Kenny Dorham, Bobby Timmons, Horace Silver, Freddie Hubbard, and Hank Mobley, drawing from The Jazz Messengers' recorded output spanning 1947 to 1990.

The sextet features Thom Whitworth on trumpet, Chris Bowden on alto saxophone, Eliot Richards on tenor saxophone, Jon Trier on piano, Simon Paterson on double bass, and Stevie Smith on drums. The ensemble performs with a commitment to musical integrity and authenticity, interpreting the direct and honest expression central to the Blue Note Records tradition.
