“A lovely mix of European and Asian influences…reminiscent of a Studio Ghibli soundtrack. Immersive… a sonic equivalent of a sunrise.” – Jazz Journal
TC.KYLIE x The Hourglass present a captivating live journey through cinematic jazz, acid grooves, and retro gaming soundscapes
Wielding her signature keytar, she fuses the emotive lyricism of Cantonpop with the high-octane energy of Japanese Acid Jazz. Her live sets channel Studio Ghibli-inspired nostalgia through high-fidelity arrangements, creating a vivid bridge between cultural heritage and cinematic warmth.
Kylie, a former documentary journalist, channels her narrative instincts into instrumental storytelling, balancing technical brilliance with raw emotional depth. At the keys and keytar, she leads an ensemble of genre-fluid musicians through original works from her debut album “RE:birth よみがえり“, recorded at Abbey Road Studios
With influences ranging from Robert Glasper and Shaun Martin to Japanese jazz-rock icons like toconoma and jizue, TC.KYLIE x The Hourglass blend lush harmonies, syncopated grooves, and improvisational fire. Their recent performances at the EFG London Jazz Festival, Hyper Japan, and Jazz Cafe showcase their magnetic stage presence and cross-genre appeal.
As part of their 2026 UK & Ireland Spring Tour, and ahead of their Ronnie Scott’s (Upstairs) headline debut in London, TC.KYLIE x The Hourglass bring their cinematic jazz spectacle to Nottingham for a special one-night performance. A celebration of bold musical hybridity, where jazz meets gaming nostalgia, and East meets West.
“This is a young band, extremely talented, that has hungrily eaten up all manner of influences from jazz, pop and classical music and the result is something very fresh and very good.” – Jazz Journal
