The Lord of Milan tells the remarkable story of Herbert Kilpin, a Nottingham-born entrepreneur who founded AC Milan FC in 1891. After emigrating to Italy to work in the textiles industry, Kilpin established what would become one of Europe's most influential football clubs. This documentary, produced by LeftLion in 2018, traces Kilpin's journey from Nottingham to Italy and explores how his legacy was recovered and preserved.
The 65-minute film features interviews with former players and colleagues who knew Kilpin, shedding light on a largely forgotten chapter of football history. Following the screening, author Robert Nieri and director Jared Wilson will participate in a Q&A session. This marks the first public screening in Nottingham since 2019. Tickets cost £5, with complimentary admission available for unwaged attendees. All viewers receive a complimentary DVD copy of the film.
