The Living Map: come and explore a 3D interactive model of Nottingham City

The Living Map offers visitors an interactive exploration of Nottingham City Centre through a 3D printed model displayed at Nottingham Central Library. The model, which received the British Cartographic Society's Map of the Year award in 2024, is enhanced with dynamic projection technology to reveal multiple perspectives of the city's geography, including historical, cultural and environmental dimensions.

Developed by the University of Nottingham in partnership with Nottingham City Council, the installation is presented through guided sessions led by the City as Lab initiative and the School of Geography. These sessions demonstrate how different data sources and viewpoints can enhance understanding of urban development and city planning.
