This Sound Gong Bath meditation session, presented by Nottingham City Library Service, forms part of Mental Health Awareness Week programming. Led by Zaff Malik, a BSc(H) certified sound practitioner, therapist and music researcher, the session explores therapeutic sound practices for wellbeing.
Participants will experience a range of eastern and African instruments, including Tibetan singing bowls and traditional gongs. The gentle sound waves are designed to promote relaxation, soothe the nervous system, and release physical tension. This approach may help reduce stress and anxiety whilst supporting better sleep and overall wellness balance.
Attendees should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and bring items to ensure physical comfort during the session, such as yoga mats, pillows, blankets, or cushions as needed. A light snack or drink afterwards can help ground participants following the experience.
