DH Lawrence Birthplace Museum, Eastwood

The D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum is the authentically restored mining cottage where the great writer was born. With original Lawrence family items and working gas-lighting, walking through the house feels like stepping back in time. Admission is generally self-led but guided tours can be arranged by request, as can group and school tours. Exhibition rooms contain more Lawrence related artefacts, including his water-colour paintings, his headstone, and the scissors that cut his umbilical cord! Children will enjoy the costumes, Victorian toys and handling items, as well children's trails through the rooms. The museum is your starting point for exploring D.H.
